On Monday, September 29th we went to the Baobob tree and to the elephant training facility. The picture of the tree is a Baobob tree. It is known to be about 6,000 years old. The tree is so large that you can go inside. You can also climb it...which I did. It felt like the tree was made of steel. It feels very different than any tree I have ever seen. The next few pictures are of the elephants. They are amazing. We went to an area where they train elephants. They can take an elephant from the wild and in 15 months the elephant can be fully trained and adjusted to people. They are currently training three of the elephants to search for land mines. So far the elephants have found 100% of the land mines between the 3 of them. These elephants would be used in Angola where a large percentage of the land there is unusable due to all of the land mines. These elephants are well fed and well trained and cared for. They showed us some of the tricks they could do and we also rode the elephants. It is a bumpy ride but I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!
On Tuesday, we mad a short trip to the mall and in the afternoon we went to a movie. We saw Hansie which is a South African film. Hansie was a Christian and was a Cricket player. He was a South African hero. It was a very amazing movie!
